Uddhava (Adrian Tomei)

Uddhava appreciates Yoga in the traditional sense. Yoga means to unite. To unite the body with the mind and to unite humankind to something greater. Thus the practice of yoga extends much further than asanas (postures) - into realms such as ethical and moral guidelines, what dietary choices we make, meditation, and even the community we surround ourselves with!

In his classes, Uddhava hopes to instill a sense of connection with something greater into students by creating a comfortable ambiance in which students feel empowered to explore their physical and psychic bodies.

Uddhava was initially immersed in a yogic meditation practice before truly realizing the power of asanas. Thus, his foray into asanas was to augment the strength of his meditation. It was during a 10-month internship at an ashram in Oregon that he began to realize the many benefits of yoga asanas. Feeling called to share his passion with others, he began informally teaching friends and family. Eventually in a sister ashram in Montana he received his RYT-200 certification from Yoga Alliance.

Uddhava is currently a student at the University of Lethbridge and a member of the newly blossoming U of L Yoga Club. He is deeply interested in psychology, philosophy and ancient mysticism. Other than yoga, he enjoys rock climbing, skiing and longboarding. He holds the title of Tattviika (one who knows the elements) permitting him to teach the initial lesson of the meditative practice he is taught in (the Sahaja meditation system passed on by Sri Sri Anandamurti), and is always available to transmit this lesson without cost. He has participated in and help lead multiple spiritual intensives, retreats and trainings for yogis in Oregon, California and Montana.
